Been switching between the news and Monday Night RAW so this isn't your typical review, so im just going to be typing out loud /-) For those of you that don't know about what's going on in London at the moment.. get out from under that rock and smell the smoke. Believe it or not its hard to switch my brain off at times and when London (and now, parts of Birmingham and Liverpool) are rioting for no logical reason, it makes it that much harder to watch RAW and switch my brain off and enjoy it. Switching between the news and RAW, flicking from images of burning buildings and thugs looting; to a less than interesting match between John Cena and Jack Swagger with a more than predictable finish. Back again to news seeing Croyden and Walthamstow (wherever that may be, it's in London, can't be far) going up in flames; then flicking to RAW and watching the inevitable finish that was Jack Swagger going down just like the American Stock market over on the other chanel.
Just outside the house about 2 hours ago, I heard a SMACK sound as I was on the phone. I walk over to the window to see 5 helmeted individuals searching a bin near the alley. Riot police? A closer look told me that they weren't. They were firefighters. One of the question's I'd been pondering was whether or not this RAW was going to be as unbelieveable as the ones prior to the one the week before which saw Cena and Punk having a Entrance Music Battle, with (to my surprise) Cena receiving a louder pop. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't.. either way, my mind was pre-occupied. I managed to find a picture of the London-Eye in flames, which was a hoax. At times like these, word of mouth is important, and so is reporting truthfully- because God Help Us all if we rely on the commericial media (The biggest distraction of the electric age) and the BBC to keep us informed. I was on the phone again, because I really didn't think I was going to be too concerned about The Miz having to face off against Kofi Kingston, after attacking Mysterio and almost having won by forfeit if it wasn't for the nifty COO'ing of Trips. One reason to always stop what you're doing and pay attention to the TV screen however is CM Punk /-) (Really? Really?? Yes Really)
"Cult of Personality" by Living Colour hit my ears and I was watching again. CM Punk and Del Rio had a decent match up, good for a 'normal' RAW (which is the kind of slur I didn't want to have to be shoved down my throat after some of the BEST weeks of wrestling in years; was normal) but hey, that's WWE for you. WWE advertised their collectible 7-Eleven slurpee cups, with every superstar on it from Randy Orton to Rey Mysterio! What? You want a CM Punk cup? I'm pretty sure I didn't see it up there on the screen :-\
Also could it be possible that Beth Phoenix getting more mic time was in CM Punk's new lucrative, long-term contract? Don't take me the wrong way, she has a valid point. It's only believeable to a certain extent that maybe some days when the stars align in just the right way, that a DIVA like Kelly Kelly would be able to defeat a PROFESSIONAL WRESTLER such as Beth Phoenix, and Beth Verbalised her gripe. She's no R-Truth on the mic, and she doesn't but she didn't need to be- point taken, "No more booty shaking". Damn.
Flicking through the news. Why does this seem like a race issue. Is it a race issue? Why is race such an issue? Building in hackney, burning down while an eye-witness reports his experience of the incidents occuring today. Seems like something bigger than race. 2012. Red Nation. Run This Town. Drop The World. Anarchy. Overthinking? No. Race isn't the issue, over the past 72 hours, it's become an excuse. An excuse for rage. Careful, the Devil is in the details- and im pretty sure he couldn't care less if you were black, white or brown. Check this:

Really? Advice on looting. Really? |
RAW saw the WWE Universe robbed however, of a clean match between Dolph Ziggler and Alex Riley, after Vickie Guerrero slapped A-Ri, costing Ziggler the match. Loving Dolph Ziggler's new remix of his theme. Alex Riley looks like he has the potential, and if this feud is done right, I'm pretty sure they can both elevate their status on the roster which would do wonders in term's of building new talent and it would be nice to see that the United States title (and the Upper-Midcard division) actually be relevant. IMO the last relevant United States Champion was The Miz! The US title (along with at one point the Unified tag team titles and the MITB briefcase) was used effectively to help elevate The Miz to that upper eshelon of the roster. Remember when Bret Hart beat The Miz for the United States Championship? Good times /-) Seems like everything with "United States" is losing it's value this week.
"100 people in Birmingham have been arrested for various criminal offences. Unmanned police station set alight in Handsworth area of Birmingham."- Read the headlines as I was flicking around anticipating the contract signing between John Cena and CM Punk for the Undisputed WWE Championship match at SummerSlam.
The card for SummerSlam seemed promising. Sheamus' recent face turn was sudden, but I liked it! Keeping things fresh, will he go down to 'The World's Strongest Man' Mark Henry?, who seem's to really be putting the effort into his new relentless attitude, I mean if he can have a good match with The Bigshow, we should be getting our money's worth from this match. Other matches like Kelly Kelly vs. Beth Phoenix should be no brainer's but we'll have to check the alignments of the stars on that hot Summer's night to see what'll go down.
Hmm.. there's a thought. Could the humidity of the weather or the heat be a factor in all this criminal activity? Is the temperature just too much for these THUGS. I'm pretty sure there's articles about the relationship of heat in the summer and increase in anger and a hypothesis on criminal activity. Wait. It wasn't even that hot today.. Just can't figure the snakes out.
Randy Orton and Christian continue their feud into SummerSlam, and although I have not been following SmackDown! as religiously as I have RAW, again I'm pretty sure that the match will be amazing. The moment that Christian is able to pull a clean victory over Randy Orton it would validate him as a main event professional wrestler.
The highlight of the night had to be the contract signing between CM Punk and John Cena. Punk opens the segment stating that a certain movie star is going to let Cena know, what Punk actually thinks of him. The Rock appeared on our screens again to mock Cena LIVE (not really) via Facebook. Cena retorts on the defense about why The Rock has an issue with him. Ratings to Cena for telling Punk that maybe he's just another modern day Hogan, taking the hand away from the ear, and putting it in front of his face and saying "You Can't See Me!" and referring to his own arsenal of holds as "The 5 moves of doom" and how he could add to it, but he would never win over those 'people' even if he let his 'heel' persona shine through. Cena stated that when he runs down the aisle and he's got those haters, hating him.. it doesn't concern him. What concerns him are the one's who DO support him, and he'll never turn his back on them. Then he called Punk a phoney. At this point, Triple H found the opening to say a few words against Punk, saying that Cena did have a point and Punk only came back for the paycheck and some perks, and didn't have the guts to make a deal with WWE like a man, and called over the phone. At this point, CM Punk went Beast Mode. Punk went ahead to say "You're calling me gutless?" to Triple H, and then insinuated that he uses Johnny Ace to do all his dirty work, such as releasing superstars, who Punk named and aknowledged as talents who were working hard to improve (Harry Smith, Vladimir Kozlov, Chris Masters). Then he took it to Cena, saying that he gave up on himself saying he become a Pro-Wrestler because he couldn't hack being a body builder. Watch the video because putting it into words does not do the promo justice: http://www.youtube.com/user/MrAshishashu92#p/u/5/ykOHGsLksxE
The final segment was a display of guys who know what they're doing when they have a microphone in their hands. And as expected with any contract signing, eventually the table was flipped over but it was Johnny Ace that caught CM Punk's roundhouse kick to the head. Triple H shoves CM Punk and Punk walks out.. walks away as Triple H and Cena stare him down..
