Better late than never but.. Time for me to crack open a cold one, and tune into Friday Night SmackDown!
The show opens with Triple H, the new COO of WWE who announces an Intercontinental Championship match for later in the evening which will see Cody Rhodes challenging Ezekiel Jackson. Alberto Del Rio vs. fellow MITB match winner Daniel Bryan is announced. Great Khali vs. Randy Orton. And then.. "IF YOU JUST CLOSE YOUR EYES".. Christian interupts Triple H.
Christian threatens to sue the WWE, but the tables turn quickly as Triple H threatens to fire Christian. Christian breaks down in a tantrum and asks Triple H, "WHY?!" Why was Triple H doing this to Christian, WHY? When wasn't it Randy Orton who attacked Triple H's entire family not too long ago? Triple H responds in saying that he's known Christian a long time, and he used to respect him. Secondly, it's the WWE Universe that likes Randy Orton, and dislikes Christian. Triple H tells Christian to beat Randy at SummerSlam and proove that he deserves that respect, and that maroon-backed (yeah, hopefully I wasn't the only one that noticed) World Heavyweight Championship. Christian says "Cut the music!" and states that he WILL beat Randy Orton, but first, he's going to beat his opponent tonight. Triple H reveals Sheamus to be his opponent in the upcoming bout.
After what seemed like pretty much a Sheamus dominant match, the Celtic Warrior attempts to hit the High Cross, when the slippery Christian slides off onto the outside apron and slingshots Sheamus, grabs the World Heavyweight Championship and starts walking up the ramp. Sheamus gets the win due to a count out. Digging Sheamus as a face, hated him as a heel. He must be doing something right.
Beth Phoenix & Natalya (now known as Divas of Doom, a.k.a. DOD) took on, or rather destroyed A.J. & Caitlin in under 5 minutes. Post match beat down to go with the new heel turn.
I have to admit, there's something about Sin Cara's entrance that even after his debut month, gives me goosebumps. His opponent on the other hand didn't get one, atleast not on TV. What he did do was remove his stupid crown hair cut. Tyson Kidd.
"WOW, did you see that?"- Booker T
"Yeah, Booker. That's why it's called television.."
After an enjoyable high flying spotfest, Sin Cara puts Tyson Kidd away with a lionsault from the middle rope.
Daniel Bryan made his way down to the ring with even more epic entrance music than his last to face Alberto Del Rio. Alberto picked up the win with Wade Barrett running in for a post match beat down on Daniel Bryan.
Cody Rhodes defeated Ezekiel Jackson for the Intercontinental Championship. Nuff said. Cody Rhodes has potential. I was partly rooting for him to win the MITB match at the last PPV, he was one of my picks. Watch that space. After being bagged, Ezekiel gets up to the unsuspecting Ted DiBiase and slams him with the book of Ezekiel. Will this feud continue? I'm counting on Rhodes to make this interesting.
Mark Henry defeated the debuting Johnny Curtis. "Break a Leg, kid." Sheamus runs out after the match and grabs the mic, challenging Mark Henry to go right now! But Henry backs away and hits the World Strongest Slam on Johnny Curtis on the outside while proclaiming to Sheamus, "That's going to be you!". I think the match at SummerSlam will be good, but we'll have to wait and see.
In the main event, Randy Orton defeated The Great Khali after Orton proved his leaping ability and grounding the giant with an RKO. Post match, Christian came out onto the stage and confidently told Randy Orton that he cannot wait for their No Holds Barred match at SummerSlam because it means that anything goes. And legend has it that Christian has the best thing going. What could this mean? A return? Edge? Nah, that couldn't happen. Whatever it is, i'm sure we'll be entertained this Sunday come SummerSlam.
