RAW Hit List (22-08-11)

OKAY! Let's do this! It's Monday Night RAW Hit List time! Pre-Show thoughts: Really hoping to see Kevin Nash and CM Punk have another verbal exchange because last week was like a teaser trailer, it's left us wanting more.

*RAW HITS*

- Opening Segment: Alberto Del Rio started the show off coming out to say "MY NAME IS.." and then cuts off by the Hustle, Loyalty & Respect national anthem as John Cena makes his way down to introduce himself to the new WWE Champion. John Cena's style of promo has been noticeably altered after his rivalry with CM Punk. Cena tried a 'truthful' approach to his promo, borrowing a page or two out of CM Punk's promo book (which i'm sure is worth a lot of money /-) One of the things Cena went on to say was that Alberto Del Rio drives around in expensive rental cars that he probably doesn't even know the name of. Cena demands a rematch and states that there is only one man in this company that can go toe to toe with him, and that Alberto Del Rio is no CM Punk. Speak of the terrorist, "Cult of Personality hits" and i'm pretty sure he got the loudest pop. CM Punk attacks Cena by saying "Don't you have a dozen cars?", Cena defends himself with, "I'm pretty sure I know the name of that car." Punk says he has no problem with Alberto cashing in his breifcase, but what he was seeing in the ring is a re-run. Punk said that Cena's re-match clause was like Santa Clause, it doesn't exist, because he was the one who beat Cena twice in high pressure matches. Del Rio says he is ignoring both requests, and that he should be celebrating, after having won the championship at SummerSlam and then defending it against Rey Mysterio the next night on RAW and then defeating Daniel Bryan on SmackDown! But he wasn't going to celebrate in front of all these Canadians.
Triple H addresses Alberto Del Rio, CM Punk and Super Man
Triple H then turned up on the scene booking a re-match for Punk and Cena, with the winner facing Del Rio at Night of Champions. Nice opener, Nice segment. I think in the future if there's a good promo i'll just put a link up for you guys /-)

- German Suplex: Loving the fact that Alberto Del Rio is bringing back this back to the plethora of WWE Superstars moves. Reminds me of the battles between Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit, outstanding matches, outstanding maneuver.

- Old School Video Promo: During the entrances to the Divas match where Eve defeated Nikki Bella, the D.O.D. had a little box on the screen talking cutting a promo, like in the good old days, nice touch.

- The Awesome Truth: The Miz & R-Truth are gold on the mic. They came out and made a point that there is a conspiracy going on in the WWE which is holding them back. Miz states that he was the main event for WrestleMania 27, and since Triple H has come into power as the new COO of the company, R-Truth and himself have been pushed to the side. But now they say that they are going to push back. I think this could be the beginning of a good two man team. These guys know how to attract some nice heat!

- Klique That: I thought we'd never see the day that CM Punk got a louder pop from the crowd than 2 members of the Klique. So far, it seems has got the better of anyone that steps up to him as far as mic skills go, but Punk may have said too much when he told Triple H that he left his balls in Stephanie's purse. Nash had heard enough and blindsided Punk with a right hand. Following the deck, Triple H pushes Nash to the side and the two of them exit to the backstage area. Punk is on the mat but with a smile on his face and the "WWE Universe" chanting his name. Meanwhile on Twitter, Shawn Michaels tweeted: "It aint gonna be good for anybody if gets really angry. At any age I'll put him against anybody in WWE at the real deal!!". A legend in this business who was already bested by Punk on the mic.

- The Main Event: John Cena took on CM Punk in a SummerSlam re-match that outdid it's original. While watching SummerSlam, the main event match was going to be hard to pull off, especially after the showing that Christian and Randy Orton had in that No Holds Barred match. Cena / Punk on the PPV was weirdly paced, and it seemed like Cena was trying to.. umm.. what's the word i'm looking for here.. Wrestle? It was not PPV quality. But it was made up for on RAW, in this main event, these 2 had the perfect pacing, nice plethora of moves used with false finishes and a Tiger Knee from CM Punk. After being told that Kevin Nash has been ina  car accident, Triple H hurries off and leaves John Laurinitis in charge, but typical 90's storyline, Nash shows up during this main event match, when CM Punk has John Cena up on his shoulders for the GTS finish. Nash tells Punk while walking down the ramp that it's not over, distracting Punk for a moment to turn around and fall into the waiting arms of an Attitude Adjustment. 1.. 2.. 3.. Cena picks up the win. Serious post match beatdown on John Cena, courtesy of Del Rio with occasion prompts from the referee and Johnny 'Ace' to get offa Cena. Nice finish, setting up the Punk / Nash angle, and allowing the Cena / Del Rio feud to really get going. I'm confident that Punk will get the last laugh on Nash and here's to hoping that Del Rio doesn't lose the championship to Cena in the near future, as to help solidify Del Rio's already amazing year in the WWE. WWE needs to invest in creating mainstay main event names, and Del Rio looks like he's destined for just that.

*RAW MISSES*

- John Morrison: It's been a while now, and i'm not buying this guy's deal. His music, the pants, the gimmick on a whole. Morrison's lightning didn't strike twice because the only other time he beat a superstar while they were World/WWE Champion was Jack 'lack of' Swagger. But like The Miz once asked Swagger, "If a superstar becomes Champion, and no one remembers. Was he ever really champion?"

- Car Accident: Nash being in a car accident in the 15 minutes after he was on TV just wasn't selling itself to me. Seems 90's ish. But it was at this point I had a feeling that it was John Laurinitis that used Triple H's phone to send the text. Think about it. It makes sense. Johnny 'Ace' had a gripe with both John Cena and CM Punk.

Other News:
- Beth Phoenix and Natalya were looking sexy as hell after the Divas match when they came out to the ramp.
- Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne def. David Otunga & Michael McGuillacuty to become new WWE Tag Team champions, in a division which it truly flourishing... not.
- Alex Riley def. Jack 'lack of' Swagger
- John Cena def. CM Punk to become no#1 contender for Alberto Del Rio's WWE Championship.
