iMPACT WRESTLING Hit List (18-08-11)

OKAY! I officially stopped giving much of a crap about TNA / iMPACT WRESTLING or whatever you want to call it when Jeff Hardy turned up to a PPV match, drugged up to take on the then TNA World Champion Sting. Can't remember what PPV it was, I think it was Victory Road back in March but it really looked like the company was in the shits, and at about the same time, WWE was gearing up for WrestleMania 27. That was when I tuned out of TNA. But in the past couple of weeks I've been told that things are starting to look up (by a few friends who know what they're talking about, well most of the time /-) especially with Sting's new joker gimmick, so let's see for ourselves. Is it worth watching? Or will this be the last time I watch iMPACT for a while? It's the first ever official iMPACT WRESTLING Hit List!

*iMPACT WRESTLING HITS*

- Sting Promo: The icon rolled down the ramp and spazzed out hard really, he claims he was depicting the beatdown that he received from Hogan and Angle the week prior. Sting says that he is dying to see Hogan back in the ring. I get it, we're not in the 90's anymore, but wouldn't we love to see these 2 dinosaurs going at it just one last time? Speaking of dinosaurs, Flair was quick to get into the ring (I wasn't aware he was back :S) and say that Sting is as good as he is now, as he was 20 years back. Flair being generous with his words there but no doubt, as he said, there's a reason they call Sting, 'Icon'. Flair went on to say that he'd been asked by people when he was going to have a match with Sting again, but he'd always said, he has nothing to prove. Flair then laid out the challenge for a match, that about 10 years ago would have, and i'm pretty sure was on PPV. Sting asks the people in the iMPACT Zone. It was all set. The stipulation being that if Sting lost, he would have to retire, and not a phoney retirement either, done. And if Flair lost, then Flair would serve Hogan to Sting on a silver platter. Game on.

- X-Division Reborn: The gauntlet match with the X-Division really looks promising for the X-Division and TNA as a whole. As far back as I remember, it was the old school X-Division matches back in the day that allowed TNA to seperate itself from other brands, and after Hogan came into power and changed the faster-paced 6 sided ring, the X-Division was soon to follow through to the bench. This however looks refreshing and promising. Let's hope TNA takes the X-Division more seriously again. And if they don't, we can always look forward to Sin Cara's matches over on WWE TV land /-)

- Eric Young: Still as funny as ever, "The Champion of TV" good to know that some things never change /-)

*iMPACT WRESTLING MISSES*
- Devon comes up short: In the time it took to write this sentence Devon took on Scott Steiner in a Bound for Glory series match, which ended as quickly as it started as Scott Steiner used the ropes to pick up the win. Samoa Joe came out after the match and hit a slam on Devon. Devon's sons got into the ring and then The Pope came down to ward Joe off. Maybe it was just me, but that was shit. Wasn't Pope feuding Joe like a year ago? Someone help me out in the comments section and catch me up.

- Direct Auto Insurance Commercial: Found it funny. That is all. I mean who would have thought that the monster Abyss needed insurance?

- AJ Styles vs. Rob Van Dam: Was expecting a good bout here, especially since it was advertised on impactwrestling.com, but it ended when Jerry Lynn pulled the referee out of the ring as RVD was having his shoulders counted down on the mat. The match itself could have gone better, but is anyone else sensing a RVD vs. Jerry Lynn match for Bound For Glory?

Other News:
- Devon took on Scott Steiner in a Bound for Glory series match
- Austin Aries wins an X-Division gauntlet match to become no#1 contender for Brian Kendrick's X-Division Championship.
- Mickie James def. ODB
- Mexican America def. Beer Money to become the new TNA World Tag Team Champions.
- The Flair vs. Sting match never took place.
- I had a 15 minute break to use the bathroom during the broadcast of iMPACT
