One man that was sure that his career and future in the business was not in anyone else's hand but his own was the Straight-Edge Saviour, Mr. CM Punk.. and if you haven't already heard, you're about to find out. The show starts out with Punk's opening segment staging a Gandhi-esqe sit in, demanding that he officially be named the no#1 contender for the WWE Championship. Personally enjoyed the sly digs he made at WWE Creative, or as he phrases it "brutal honesty"..
"I'm used to a lot of people around here making some bad decisions.." - CM Punk
The segment ends in a message from the Annonymous RAW General Manager announcing that he was going to make Punk the No#1 Contender, but he sensed a twinge of disrespect from Punk so he would have to defeat both AlbertoooooOOoooo Del Rio & Rey Mysterio in a triple threat match in order to stake a claim. At this point in the game I'm thinking: It would be great to see a John Cena vs. Alberto somewhere down the line, but IMO Alberto has been losing a lot of steam, especially since he's been talking 100% more than he is capturing a World Championship. Prime example of a build up with no rise to the occasion, but that's a different story, for another blog! The chances of Rey Mysterio Vs. John Cena seemed even less likely, maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't care for it at the moment. All I expected to see was a great 3 way contest with these guys, and did they deliver!

Something not so good: The WWE

In WWE's defence, they were having some issues with the whole voting by text system, and by the end of the show - And i'm sitting here hoping that the WWE Universe didn't seriously choose Mason Ryan to go up against Evan Bourne Really? REALLY? Was hoping to see an amazing high flying bout between Sin Cara and Evan Bourne, but either the WWE botched hard with this whole voting dealio, or the WWE Universe wanted to see Evan get mauled. The match itself was not believable to anyone that's seen pro-wrestling through the 90's. You put Goldberg in a match against Billy Kidman, and i'm firmly sure that Kidman would have been squashed. The pure dynamics in terms of size difference between these two was a mismatch, and thankfully for Mark's sake, Mason Ryan picked up the 'W' and it was amusing to hear the Baltimore crowd chant "Batista! Batista! Batista!" for Ryan. Creepy resemblence right? Maybe not anymore.. I mean have you seen Batista lately? For the benefit of those with link-ability.. Click Here.

R-Truth + Christian + The Miz + A Microphone = Funny. The promo starts out with R-Truth complaining about his conspiracy theories, and being GOT by a Little Jimmy. Christian is equally disgruntled as you know all know: YES, His foot was under the bottom rope. Miz.. lost to Alex Riley - All went down at Capitol Punishment. Just for the record i'm going out on a limb and saying that if WWE were to give Alex Riley the right push, I can see a bright future for that man, may even be champion someday. Or maybe there'll be a day where I look back at this blog and think, "What the F*% was I thinking?". Time will tell.
"Who the hell is little Jimmy?" - Christian
Youtube it, was worth watching if you have a sense of humour /-) Teddy Long was soon waggling himself out to announce a huge 6-Man main event which would see The Miz / R-Truth and Christian vs. John Cena / Alex Riley & Randy Orton.

If I can be serious for a minute... kofi Kingston & Dolph Ziggler are both great athletes in that squared circle, but as it stands, i'm not really being given much incentive to actually care about the feud itself. Vickie seems to be overshadowing Dolph in the charisma and even mic time portion of their pairing on screen, and it's time Dolph to go solo. Perfect solution? Nevertheless the match was up there, good quality wrestling match; high quantity dosage - We've seen it one time too many. Dolph got the first fall, followed by Kofi, and in the end it was a disqualification to Dolph Ziggler that allowed him to retain the United States Championship. Hollow victory for Kofi Kingston.

No#1 Contendership Match for The WWE Championship: By far my favorite match of the night, pitting CM Punk against Rey Mysterio vs. Alberto Del Rio. There was an IT factor in this match, where it didn't seem like an ordinary and it was Pay-Per-View quality. Alberto has the mic before the match and does the DESTINY talk, accompanied by his new "Bad things happen, to bad people" line. As the match gets started, the pace picks up fairly quickly and is maintained nicely throughout its course. Some good spots with the 3 man Tower of Doom out of the corner, Rey Mysterio's signature head scissor takedowns and Alberto hit a beautiful German Suplex. There was actually a shocking spot from Rey Mysterio that I wouldn't expect him to do under normal circumstances, where he leapt off the top rope, hit's Punk with a Senton, gets back up and suicide dives out of the ring at the ringside bound Alberto. The finish came when Alberto get's hit with the 619, Rey goes up and hits the splash. Goes for the cover... 1.. 2.. PUNK slides in and slides Rey into the ringpost and picks up the 3 count. But wait.. theres more..

CM Punk announces his contract with WWE expires on July 17th |
CM Punk grabs a microphone and proclaims that July 17th will be a historic night not only for himself, but for the WWE as a whole, because it's the night that CM Punk defeats John Cena and becomes WWE Champion.
"And here's some of that honesty I was talking about, that honesty that's probably gotten me into trouble more times than I'd like to admit, the brutal honesty im known for. July 17th, the day when my contract with World Wrestling Entertainment comes to an end. That means, when the clock strikes midnight, 17th becomes the 18th, Sunday bleeds into Monday.. i'm leaving. And trust me when I tell you.. I'm leaving with the WWE Championship" - CM Punk
Yeah, Woah, WTF. Was surprised to hear what Punk had to say but at the same time I'd heard rumours and I'm pretty sure you had too about CM Punk not being happy with how the WWE perceived his talent. Punk is no doubt one of the best the WWE has to offer and nothing says please don't leave us like making someone No#1 Contender. Punk = Great Heel. Great Storyteller. Poor Alcoholic. Decent Rolemodel. Maybe it's a work? Definetly a possibility, but that doesn't seem like that would be Punk's style. Well whatever happens, I think this will give us a feud worth looking forward to on Monday Nights. End of Nexus?

There's a few things on RAW such as the Arm Wrestling match between Kane and Mark Henry and the fact that a "No Count Out" match was voted for Daniel Bryan vs Cody Rhodes, and Michael Cole beating Vickie Guerrero in a dance off, that I haven't really 'reviewed' or given any opinion on, but I think the less I say the better..

The Main Event: 6-Man Elimination tag. Alex Riley was the first to go after displaying some fiery manuevers, eventually being caught in a Skull-Crushing Finale from The Miz. After some prolonged taunting from The Miz, he get's hit with the FU AA from Cena and get's his shoulders down and counted on the mat for the 3 count. Randy Orton hits a beutifully timed RKO, and that's the Truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the Truth! as R-Truth finds himself eliminated. Orton get's up from the pinfall, turns around and get's Speared from Christian. 1.. 2.. 3..?! Does that legitimise the spear as a finisher for Christian? Christian is overwhelmed at pinning Orton, Cena turns him around and has him up in the fireman's carry.. Christian grabs the ropes, squirms out.. and right into another beautiful RKO! And the fat lady is singing as Cena locks in the STF for his team and picks up the win!

Decent showing overall with some good wrestling matches, and next week's RAW is going to be Roulette, live from Las Vegas. Excited to see what the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels has to say and looking forward to what CM Punk has to say even more so.
